Java administrative divisions, 1925-1931

Description

The process of amalgamation was reversed in 1925 when the former four residencies in western Java were divided into nine. A similar process followed in central and eastern Java in 1928. This reform was a consequence of the establishment of the province (provincie) as the highest level of regional government in the colony and the creation of provinces in west, central and east Java.
