Java administrative boundaries, 1931-1942

In 1931, the number of residencies was reduced once more. These new boundaries were used for the publication of statistics collected in the 1930 census (although the data had been collected under the older boundaries), and they were retained both by the Japanese military administration on Java 1942-1945 and by the government of the independent Republic of Indonesia for some time after 1945.
