Forest in Sumatra, 1930

Description

In about 1930, only a few areas of Sumatra had been thoroughly deforested.  By 1980, however, forest cover had been dramatically thinned.  Large areas in northern and southern Sumatra had been cleared and in other regions the forest was dissected by roads and human
settlement.
